Suno Download Limit: The Download Allowances, Explained
Since September 3, 2026, Suno meters downloads separately from generation credits. The short version, from Suno's published download policy: Free accounts get up to 7 trial downloads for the life of the account, Pro gets 20 downloads a month, Premier gets 60 a month, and Premier workflows inside Suno Studio are exempt. Allowances do not roll over. This page explains exactly how Suno counts a download — and the legitimate ways to work within the cap.
The limits at a glance
Suno announced the policy in August 2026 and switched it on for every account on September 3, 2026. Generation credits and downloads are now two different budgets: your plan can still create hundreds of songs a month while only letting you take a fixed number of them off the platform.
| Plan | Download allowance | Resets | Use rights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free (joined before Sep 3, 2026) | Up to 7 trial downloads, lifetime | Never — one-time allowance | Personal, non-commercial use only |
| Free (joined on or after Sep 3, 2026) | Trial downloads may be offered occasionally | — | Personal, non-commercial use only |
| Pro | 20 downloads per month | Monthly, on your billing date | Commercial use per Suno's terms |
| Premier | 60 downloads per month | Monthly, on your billing date | Commercial use per Suno's terms |
| Premier + Suno Studio | Studio workflows not subject to the ordinary limit | — | Commercial use per Suno's terms |
How Suno counts a download
The counting rules in Suno's download FAQ are fairer than the headlines suggested — one download means one song, not one file:
- One song counts as one download, regardless of format — the MP3 and the WAV of the same song are a single slot.
- Downloading the same song again does not count again.
- A song's stems are part of that song's download, not extra slots per stem.
- A failed or interrupted download does not count.
- The meter covers your whole library, including songs you created before September 3, 2026.
- Listening, playing and sharing inside Suno stay unlimited on every plan — only taking the file off the platform is metered.
Resets, rollover and buying more
Pro and Premier allowances reset on your billing date, and unused downloads expire — they do not roll over to the next month. If you hit the cap mid-project, Suno lets you purchase additional downloads rather than waiting for the reset.
One timing trap: if a paid subscription lapses, your library stays in your account and remains playable and shareable, but downloading falls back to Free-plan treatment. Archiving your masters while a paid allowance is live is the safer order of operations.
Why Suno introduced download limits
In its announcement, Suno said the limits are meant to "make it harder for bad actors to mass-export music" and to keep the platform oriented toward "intentional music creation", while creation, remixing, listening and sharing on Suno itself stay unlimited. Whether or not you agree with the reasoning, the practical effect for working creators is the same: exporting is now a resource you budget, like credits.
How to work within the limit
None of these require tricks — they are how the policy is designed to be used:
- Audition in-platform first. Listening is unlimited, so shortlist there and spend download slots only on keepers.
- Decide the format before you spend the slot: one song counts once in any format, so take the WAV master (and stems) in the same decision instead of re-exporting later.
- Before cancelling or downgrading, archive the tracks you care about while your paid allowance is active.
- On Premier, route heavy export work through Suno Studio, which sits outside the ordinary limit.
- For a one-off overflow, buy the extra downloads from Suno instead of upgrading a whole plan tier for a single project.
- Or take the export step outside the meter entirely: SunoBatch downloads are processed separately from Suno's official export, so batch-archiving your own library — up to 20 tracks at a time, with per-file progress — does not spend any of your official allowance.
About the figures on this page
The allowances above summarise Suno's published download policy (announced August 2026, effective September 3, 2026) and its Help Center download FAQ. Platform policies change, and the remaining balance shown in your own Suno account is always the source of truth. Last reviewed: October 2026.
Suno download limit FAQ
Free accounts that joined before September 3, 2026 get up to 7 trial downloads for the life of the account — they never reset. Accounts that joined later may occasionally receive trial downloads. Trial downloads are for personal, non-commercial use only.
No. Pro (20/month) and Premier (60/month) allowances reset on your billing date and unused downloads expire.
No. One song counts as one download regardless of format, re-downloading the same song does not count again, and its stems are included in that single download.

You can wait for your monthly reset, purchase additional downloads from Suno, or — on Premier — export through Suno Studio, which is exempt from the ordinary limit. Listening and sharing inside Suno are unaffected.
No. SunoBatch processes downloads separately from Suno's official export, so batch downloads of your own library do not consume your official Suno allowance.
